I'd imagine it's the software that should support HDR in order to make sure that you can edit it, I don't know if said software then forces you to use an HDR capable monitor to keep editing tho. but you're not going to be able to see HDR, so if you do anything like color grading I suppose you would mess up, I simply upload without editing and all the editing I've done so far has been in SDR so I can't tell for sure.

I'll test this and let you know in a few minutes tho! (difference by recording on my sony and samsung, see if they look different in the end)Ģ - PS5 recording are 4K HDR 60 FPS, however, you need to press share > "Start New Recording", if you use the "Save Recent Gameplay" button, it will be 1080p 60 FPS SDR (yes, even if you play on a 4K HDR TV).īy the way when you connect your PS5 to a 4K HDR screen a few extra options will popup like record in HDR which you can turn off, so make sure it's on, I also thing you can choose wether you wanna record in 1080p or 4K, maybe I'm wrong, I'm sure there are 2 extra options, I'll check in a few mins and update the answer.ģ - So, as far as I know you do not need a 4K capable monitor to edit HDR videos technically. If you plan on recording in 120FPS, I don't know wether PS5 supports HDR 120FPS, and I doubt that the internal record feature supports 120FPS anyway, max 60 I believe. So watchout for that too.īy the way, most TVs do 4K HDR10+ 60hz just fine, I saw a xiaomi one for 300€ and supports all of the latter.

I'd imagine that by default your PS5 uses the max resolution and max hz allowed by the screen, you can change those settings, but you can't output 4K on a non 4K screen, you can't output HDR on a non HDR screen, so I'd imagine that you can't output 60FPS on a non 60Hz screen. The best way to check si go into Settings > Video Output Information and see Resolution, HZ and HDR.If you see 30, see if you can manually change and force it to 60 it will output (and therefore render the game, at that, on your screen you will still see 30 FPS, but it should record at 60.Īlso, watchout that your TV supports HDR at 60FPS, I have a sony bravia that after repair (they messed the mother board with the smaller model, which apparently has a few extra changes) cannot do 4K HDR 60, but only 4K HDR 30. I suppose that if you hook up your PS5 to a screen that goes under 60hz, you will record in whatever hz your TV supports, I'd imagine that if you have a 30hz TV, your video will be 30 in the end. However I don't know wether there will be a difference by using an HDR10 or an HDR10+ tv, from what I know, PS5 supports HDR10, so you will have just that either way.Īs far as the framerate goes. I think an HDR TV is required just because otherwise the PS5 will refuse to even output HDR (probably because not every TV is capable to turn HDR into SDR, I think?).

From what I've know each TV displays HDR in whatever way the manage, for example a samsung TV I have displays it the way it's supposed to be, while a sony 2015 simply applied a yellow filter on top, the PS5 should not care regardless the video signal is the same. I'll reply with what I know but not every answer might be totally correct, anyway:ġ - As far as I know the TV doesn't matter much as long as it supports HDR. If you cut the video using the built in system cut feature, it will also be 4K 60 HDR, if you use sharefactory you need to change the export setting from optimised (1080p no hdr) to best quality. As long as you are on a 4K HDR monitor, with HDR on, and enable capturing in 4K HDR (aka WebM format using VP9 as a video codec and opus lossy as an audio codec), and then upload directly from options > share > youtube it will work. Just wait, youtube took a few hours to get my video in 4K and then a whole day to make it HDR, and even then it was not done processing, in the end in 2 day your video will be ready.

However playing back the original click after being recorded on the 4K HDR tv, it does have HDR, and the "record HDR" option from the share button settings was enabled.Īny idea? Is it something that happened because I uploaded the click directly via the PS5? I should have exported it to USB and then upload it from a PC, or there is a specific procedure to upload HDR videos in general?Įdit: Probably nobody cares but I fixed it, and in case you want to do so too here's how to do it. Only thing to note is that I did cut the video from the PS5, by any chance that did mess up the HDR? I cannot check because I had to switch from a 4K HDR to tv to a non HDR 1080p monitor, and from the info screen there does not mention HDR being enabled or not, just the resolution. The title says it all, how can I fix this?
